Karachi Muharram traffic plan issued for Ashura 2026 routes and road diversions in city.
KARACHI – (Web Desk) – Karachi Muharram traffic plan has been issued by the traffic police to help citizens move safely during 8th to 10th Muharram in the city. In Karachi, special road closures and diversion routes have been announced due to major Ashura processions.
The main procession will start from Nishtar Park and end at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah. For security reasons, MA Jinnah Road will remain closed from Guru Mandir to Tower during the processions on all three days.
Commuters coming from Nazimabad are advised to use Lasbela Chowk via Garden to reach Nishtar Road. People from Liaquatabad should move towards Teen Hatti and then use Martin Road for smooth travel.
Traffic from Hasan Square to Peoples Chowrangi will be diverted through Kashmir Road, Jail Flyover, Teen Hatti, and Nishtar Road. Similarly, vehicles from Shahrah-e-Faisal will be redirected towards Kashmir Road from Society Light Signal.
On Muharram 9, Liaquatabad-Guru Mandir road will remain closed for one hour in the morning for procession movement. Authorities have requested citizens to follow alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel near procession areas.
The government has also announced public holidays on 9th and 10th Muharram (June 25 and 26), allowing people to observe Ashura peacefully with religious respect and safety.
