TEHRAN: (News Desk) – Iran has claimed that it generated $18 billion in oil sales during its conflict with the United States and the period following a ceasefire.
According to Reuters, Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said the country exported oil worth $11.5 billion during the war, which began on February 28, while an additional $6.5 billion in oil sales was recorded during the ceasefire period.
The ceasefire came into effect on April 7 and its conclusion was announced on July 10. Paknejad said the combined revenue represented nearly 60% of Iran’s projected annual oil income target.
The Iranian oil minister also claimed that oil exports increased after the ceasefire, with Iran selling around 100 million barrels of crude oil and gas during the period.
However, the claims come amid conflicting statements from Iranian officials. In late June, Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief nuclear negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Iran had been unable to export oil due to a US blockade on Iranian ports.
