PCB Pays Tribute as Chacha Cricket Nears Retirement Farewell

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) paid an emotional tribute to legendary cricket enthusiast Chaudhry Abdul Jalil, widely known as Chacha Cricket, ahead of his retirement from active support. His farewell will take place after the final ODI between Pakistan and Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.

To honour his remarkable contribution to Pakistan cricket, the PCB released a special tribute banner featuring Chacha Cricket along with a collection of memorable photographs from his decades-long journey supporting the national team.

In its tribute, the PCB described Chacha Cricket as far more than an ordinary fan, calling him a symbol of dedication, loyalty and unwavering passion for Pakistan cricket. The board thanked him for creating unforgettable memories and standing by the team through every high and low.

For nearly 40 years, Chacha Cricket has been one of the most recognisable faces in cricket stadiums across the world. His energetic support and colourful presence have made him a beloved figure among cricket fans, earning him iconic status in the sport.

His journey began during the 1980s in Sharjah, where Pakistan frequently played international matches. As his popularity grew among supporters, he eventually became an official mascot of Pakistan cricket under the PCB in 1996.

Born on October 8, 1949, in Sialkot, Chaudhry Abdul Jalil is famous for his signature green kurta, flowing white beard and distinctive white cap adorned with a shining star and crescent.

Over the decades, Chacha Cricket has come to represent passion, resilience and patriotism in Pakistan’s cricket culture. His enthusiastic support has inspired generations of fans and helped create some of the most memorable atmospheres in Pakistan cricket history.
