TEHRAN: (News Desk) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has claimed that US President Donald Trump effectively recognised Iran’s role in the “Axis of Resistance” by signing the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
According to 24NewsHD, Ghalibaf said Trump had demanded that Tehran abandon its missile and nuclear programmes, reduce support for resistance groups and address the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Ghalibaf claimed the negotiations instead resulted in the United States lifting its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz that same night. He described the talks as an example of what he called “aggressive diplomacy.”
Ghalibaf further alleged that Trump had stated Iran would also open the Strait of Hormuz. He said he instructed Iranian negotiators to demand the withdrawal of that statement, warning that Iran would respond militarily if it was not removed.
According to Ghalibaf, Trump deleted the second part of his statement from social media 58 minutes later.
