Senator Talha Mahmood Joins PPP
Islamabad: Senator Talha Mahmood, representing Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), has announced his inclusion in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside PPP leader Nayyar Bukhari, Senator Talha Mahmood stated that he is joining the PPP, extending his gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari for extending him the invitation to join the party.
He mentioned that although he had never been associated with any party other than Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in his life, the current circumstances in Pakistan demand collective efforts from everyone. He highlighted the economic crisis and various issues plaguing the country, emphasizing the need for all to contribute towards overcoming these challenges.
Senator Talha Mahmood expressed his desire to work at the national level, stating that in the current situation, no other party besides the PPP seems better equipped to address the prevailing issues.
Reflecting on his personal integrity, Senator Talha Mahmood mentioned that he has refrained from accepting any perks or privileges from the government during the past 18 years.
He emphasized the importance of his potential contribution to national-level activities and expressed confidence in the leadership of the PPP.
In response, PPP leader Nayyar Bukhari extended a warm welcome to Senator Talha Mahmood, expressing confidence in his positive role within the party. He highlighted Senator Talha Mahmood’s significant parliamentary experience, having been elected as a senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2006, and expressed hope for his constructive contribution to the PPP.
