Trump says Iran cannot blackmail US over Hormuz tensions
Washington (Web Desk) — US President Donald Trump has stated that Iran cannot pressure or blackmail the United States over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, despite ongoing tensions in the region.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said that negotiations with Iran are progressing positively, but made it clear that Washington will not be influenced by threats related to the vital oil shipping route.
The US president also referred to the killing of Qassem Soleimani, stating that he was responsible for attacks on American forces. Trump added that he would be sharing further important updates regarding Iran later in the day.

Commenting on Europe, Trump expressed concern over the economic situation in Spain, claiming that the country has weakened financially and has not met its defense spending commitments within NATO. He emphasized that the United States does not require permission from allies to carry out its operations and can use military bases when necessary.
Trump also highlighted domestic developments, saying reforms in the US healthcare sector have led to a significant reduction in drug prices, claiming cuts of between 50 to 80 percent. He further stated that efforts to curb drug trafficking in the United States have shown positive results.
