Iran partially reopens airspace after 50 days closure

Iran resumes limited flights as airspace reopens after weeks

Tehran (Web Desk) — Iran has partially reopened its airspace after nearly 50 days, allowing operations to resume at several key airports across the country.

According to local media reports, flight operations have restarted at major facilities including Imam Khomeini International Airport, along with airports in Mashhad, Birjand, Gorgan, and Zahedan.

The Iran Civil Aviation Organization confirmed that eastern airspace has been reopened from 7am, permitting international transit flights to pass through the region.

Officials said that while a full restoration of flight operations is expected in phases, no specific timeline has yet been announced. Despite the easing of restrictions, flight activity had not fully resumed across the country by the afternoon.

Iran had closed its airspace on February 28 following strikes by the United States and Israel, amid heightened regional tensions. The latest move signals a gradual return to normalcy in the aviation sector.
