Apple Unveils iPhone 18 Pro With Major Camera Upgrades
Apple Launches iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max With Advanced Camera Features
LAHORE: (News Desk) – Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, introducing major upgrades to their cameras, performance, battery life, connectivity and artificial intelligence features.
The new models feature a 48-megapixel Fusion main camera with a variable aperture, giving users greater control over photography. Apple says the upgraded sensor delivers improved low-light performance and sharper details, particularly in group photographs.
The camera app now includes Pro Controls, allowing users to adjust settings such as aperture, shutter speed and white balance. A histogram has also been added to help users monitor exposure levels while taking photographs.
Apple has introduced a new computational imaging pipeline designed to produce more detailed images, while updated Photographic Styles offer additional controls for texture and grain.
Video recording has also received several upgrades. Users can apply cinematic effects to videos recorded at up to 60 frames per second after capture. Time-lapse recording now supports 4K and Dolby Vision HDR, while the Audio Mix feature has been enhanced with new algorithms.
Another new feature, Apple Reference Image, allows users to check whether an image has been edited. The reference image can be viewed alongside the original in the Photos app, enabling users to compare the two versions visually.
The Dynamic Island has also been redesigned on both models. Apple says it can now display up to three live activities simultaneously, while features such as Face ID unlocking and payments remain supported.
A20 Pro chip and performance
Both iPhone 18 Pro models are powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, manufactured using 2-nanometer process technology. The chip offers 50 percent more memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro.
The six-core CPU includes integrated neural accelerators, while the seven-core GPU is claimed to be up to 40 percent faster than its predecessor. The A20 Pro also features a dual 16-core Neural Engine, providing 32 cores for improved on-device artificial intelligence and computational photography.
The phones also include Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread.
Battery and thermal improvements

Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the biggest battery-life improvement in iPhone history. eSIM models of the iPhone 18 Pro can offer up to 36 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can provide up to 45 hours.
The iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50 percent charge in around 15 minutes, while wireless charging can reach the same level in approximately 30 minutes. Apple says a five-minute wired charge on the iPhone 18 Pro Max can provide around seven hours of video playback.
iOS 27 and Siri AI
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max come with iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence features, including an upgraded Siri AI experience.
Siri AI will initially be available in beta and can help users locate information across messages, emails and photos by understanding personal context.
According to Apple, Apple Intelligence combines on-device processing with Private Cloud Compute to help protect user privacy.
Price and availability
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be available with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.
Both models will be offered in Black, Silver, Glacier and the new Burgundy colour.
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 in the US, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299.
