Petrol, Diesel Prices Surge Again in September
LAHORE: (Finance Reporter) – Petrol and high-speed diesel prices in Pakistan have recorded a sharp increase during the first 10 days of September, with petrol prices revised upward six times and reduced once during the period.
According to the data, petrol became costlier by Rs28.90 per litre in September, while high-speed diesel prices increased on seven occasions, resulting in a cumulative rise of Rs22.26 per litre.
Effective September 10, 2026, petrol is being sold at Rs367.75 per litre, while high-speed diesel is priced at Rs392.67 per litre.
A day earlier, on September 9, petrol was priced at Rs364.35 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs385.95 per litre. On September 8, petrol stood at Rs358.77 per litre, while diesel was available at Rs381.77 per litre.
Earlier, on September 5, petrol was priced at Rs345.87 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs378.05 per litre.
Between September 5 and September 10, petrol prices increased by Rs21.88 per litre, while high-speed diesel became Rs14.62 per litre more expensive.
The data further shows that petrol is currently Rs133.02 per litre above its original price, while high-speed diesel carries an additional Rs122.55 per litre in the form of levy, taxes and margins.
The levy, taxes and margins on petrol amount to Rs131.60 per litre. Meanwhile, the base cost of petrol stands at Rs234.73 per litre, compared with its current retail price of Rs367.75 per litre.
