Govt Increases Petrol Price by Rs3.05 Per Litre in Pakistan
Diesel prices also rise sharply as new fuel rates take effect from September 11
Pakistan – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Govt increases petrol price by Rs3.05 per litre under the latest revision announced by the Ministry of Energy. The new rates came into effect from September 11, 2026, bringing fresh relief pressure to commuters and transporters across the country.
According to the official notification, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority raised the ex-depot price of petrol, also known as Motor Spirit. The price has now moved up from Rs367.75 to Rs370.80 per litre.
Diesel users were not spared either. High-speed diesel, widely used in trucks, buses and agricultural machinery, saw a bigger jump. Its price climbed by Rs5.37 per litre, rising from Rs392.67 to Rs398.04 per litre.
This latest hike comes as part of the revised petroleum pricing mechanism that the government reviews periodically. Officials say the adjustment reflects changes in international oil rates and currency movement, though many citizens worry about the fresh strain on household budgets.
Transport fares and the cost of daily goods often rise soon after fuel prices go up, since diesel powers most of the country’s freight and public transport network. Households already dealing with high living costs may feel this pinch within days.
The government has not indicated whether further increases are expected in the near term. For now, drivers and businesses will need to adjust to the new rates starting today.
