PCB Announces Major Reforms to Strengthen Pakistan Cricket
Naqvi emphasized that player selection would increasingly be based on data and performance
LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced a series of significant reforms aimed at improving Pakistan cricket, including the introduction of a computerized central contract system, data-driven player selection, enhanced match fees, and greater focus on domestic cricket and player welfare.
Speaking informally to journalists at Gaddafi Stadium, Naqvi said the PCB had been working extensively on cricket-related matters over the past month and was set to finalize several important decisions and policies within the next two to three days.
He revealed that new policies had been developed for T20 Internationals, One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and Test cricket, while substantial progress had also been made regarding central contracts and the player selection process.
Naqvi emphasized that player selection would increasingly be based on data and performance analytics to ensure merit, transparency, and fairness.
The PCB chairman further announced that the board would introduce five categories in its central contract structure, including a newly established category for emerging players to support and nurture young talent.
