Women’s T20 World Cup Draws Record Interest
The tournament opened with England Women's Cricket Team defeating Sri Lanka
Birmingham: (Web Desk) – ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta has said the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup can successfully coexist with the FIFA Men’s World Cup, highlighting record-breaking ticket sales as evidence of the tournament’s growing popularity.
Speaking after the opening match at Edgbaston, Gupta revealed that around 220,000 tickets had been sold before the tournament began — the highest figure in the event’s history.
“We genuinely see this event as a seminal moment for the sport. I think the World Cups can co-exist. We’ve not seen any impact on ticket sales,” he said.
