Government Raises Petrol and High-Speed Diesel Prices
ISLAMABAD: (Finance Reporter) – The federal government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, with the revised rates coming into effect from September 2, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy.
The price of petrol, also known as motor spirit, has been increased by Rs1.08 per litre, taking it from Rs342.79 to Rs343.87 per litre.
High-speed diesel has also become more expensive, with its price rising by 51 paisa per litre, from Rs370.41 to Rs370.92 per litre.
According to the Petroleum Division, the revised ex-depot prices were determined by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) under the federal government’s updated petroleum pricing mechanism.
The new rates will remain in force from September 2 until the government announces another revision.
The latest increase comes as consumers continue to closely monitor changes in fuel prices, which have a direct impact on transportation costs and the prices of goods and services across the country.
