Pakistan’s First Robotic Bariatric Surgery Performed at Capital Hospital CDA

Islamabad — In a groundbreaking achievement for Pakistan’s healthcare sector, Capital Hospital CDA has successfully performed the country’s first robotic bariatric surgery during the 2nd Pakistan Obesity Week. This pioneering procedure marks a significant milestone in the country’s medical advancements.

The surgery was inaugurated by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who highlighted the hospital’s dedication to healthcare innovation. “This robotic surgery represents a technological milestone for Pakistan’s medical sector. We are committed to providing world-class healthcare facilities to the residents of Islamabad and CDA employees,” said Randhawa.

Dr. Naeem Taj, Executive Director of CDA Hospital, elaborated on the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery. He noted that the technology offers superior precision, minimal invasiveness, and faster recovery times. Patients can expect smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, and shorter hospital stays compared to traditional methods.

The event, which ran throughout the week, also featured live surgical demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and expert discussions with renowned bariatric surgeons from Pakistan, the UAE, Turkey, and Taiwan. Dr. Tanseer Asghar, the organizer of the event, emphasized the importance of fostering international collaboration and skill development among Pakistani surgeons.

Prof. Dr. Shoaib Shafi, President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), praised the initiative and expressed his support for further advancements in surgical training at the hospital.
