DHAKA: (News Desk) – Bangladesh is facing a severe measles outbreak that has overwhelmed hospitals, with the continued arrival of sick children creating a serious shortage of beds.
According to foreign media reports, 999 children have died from measles in Bangladesh over the past six months, while health facilities struggle to cope with the growing number of patients.
The Bangladeshi Ministry of Health has reported 19,835 confirmed measles cases, alongside around 166,000 suspected cases. More than 146,000 people with suspected measles have reportedly been hospitalized during the same period.
Health experts say that although vaccination efforts are underway, gaps in protective measures and immunization coverage are allowing the outbreak to continue spreading.
Epidemiological data indicate that Bangladesh is currently experiencing one of the world’s largest measles outbreaks, putting significant pressure on the country’s healthcare system.
The scale of the outbreak has prompted concerns over hospital capacity, particularly as increasing numbers of children require medical attention for measles-related complications.
