Polio Workers Get 28% Increase in Daily Allowance

ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – The Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme has announced a 28 percent increase in the daily allowance of frontline polio workers, with the revised rate set to take effect from the next nationwide vaccination campaign.

According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), the upcoming campaign will be held from September 21 to 27 across 115 districts.

Polio programme focal person Ayesha Raza Farooq said more than 31 million children are expected to receive oral polio vaccine drops during the campaign.

The increase in the daily allowance is intended to provide additional financial support to frontline workers who carry out vaccination activities and travel to communities across the country.

Polio teams, including vaccinators and other campaign personnel, play a crucial role in reaching children in targeted areas and ensuring they receive the required vaccine doses.

The September campaign is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to interrupt poliovirus transmission and protect children from the potentially disabling disease. Authorities have also directed relevant teams to ensure smooth field operations and maintain vaccination coverage across all designated districts.
