Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Visiting New York For Key UN Meetings
NEW YORK: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit New York City from May 26 to 28 to participate in a high-level debate at the United Nations Security Council, according to the Foreign Office spokesperson.
The spokesperson stated that the debate will focus on global peace, international security, and the role of the United Nations in addressing major global challenges facing the international community.
The session will take place under China’s presidency of the Security Council for May 2026 and will be chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Pakistan welcomed China’s initiative, with the Foreign Office reaffirming Islamabad’s support for multilateral diplomacy and the central role of the United Nations in maintaining international peace and stability.
During his visit, Ishaq Dar will also participate in a meeting of the Global Governance Group of Friends on May 28. Discussions are expected to focus on reforms in global governance systems and collective approaches to shared international challenges.
According to the spokesperson, the deputy prime minister is also likely to hold separate meetings with senior UN officials and several world leaders on the sidelines of the event.
The Foreign Office emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to playing a constructive role in promoting global peace, security, cooperation, and sustainable development through multilateral engagement.
