Babar Azam, Naseem Shah Join Teams for President’s Trophy
President’s Trophy Third Round Set to Begin Across Three Cities
ISLAMABAD: (Sports Reporter) – The third round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I will commence on Thursday, September 24, with matches scheduled in Islamabad, Abbottabad and Peshawar.
The upcoming round will feature several Pakistan Test cricketers and members of the Pakistan U19 squad, who have joined their respective departmental sides, adding experience and greater competition to the first-class tournament.
Babar Azam and Razaullah have joined Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) ahead of their match against Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. Mystery spinner Usman Tariq has also joined the KRL squad for the fixture.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), looking to recover from their defeat against Ghani in the second round, have added fast bowler Naseem Shah and top-order batter Abdullah Shafique to their squad. Pakistan U19 players Farhan Yousuf, Abdul Subhan and Hamza Zahoor have also joined the team.
Markhor IT Solutions have strengthened their pace attack with the arrival of Aamir Jamal. The side bowled for 158 overs against KRL during the second round.
Abdullah Fazal has joined State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), while experienced Test batter Saud Shakeel has linked up with Kingsmen Academy. Kingsmen Academy struggled with the bat against OGDCL in their previous match and will hope Shakeel’s inclusion adds stability to their batting lineup.
Left-arm spinner Ali Usman will feature for Pakistan Television (PTV) following his record-breaking 2025-26 season. PTV have drawn both of their matches so far and will be aiming for their first victory when they take on Kingsmen Academy at Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad.
Ghani will also receive a boost to its already strong pace attack, with Ubaid Shah joining the squad ahead of their match against SBP at National Ground in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Shadab Khan and left-arm spinner Noman Ali are expected to join Ghani before the fourth round of the tournament.
