Sadia Faisal Fires Back At Hira Khan Over Saba’s Remarks

KARACHI: (Showbiz Desk) – The controversy over veteran actress Saba Faisal’s remarks about marriage and divorce has intensified after her daughter, actress Sadia Faisal, responded to criticism from Hira Khan.

Sadia took to her Instagram Story and shared a news graphic featuring Hira Khan’s remarks about Saba Faisal. Reacting to the statement, Sadia wrote, “I wish I could see this so called actress one day!”

She followed it with another message directed at Hira, writing, “Behan kon ho tum!”, which roughly translates to “Sister, who even are you?” Her response brought her directly into the social media exchange surrounding her mother’s comments.

The dispute began after Hira Khan criticised Saba Faisal over her recent remarks about changing attitudes toward marriage and divorce.

Hira had shared a statement on her Instagram Story saying, “Janazay uthanay se behtar hain maa baap apne sir jhuka lein,” followed by her comment that she had expressed the same view before and believed Saba “needs help.”

The Urdu statement refers to parents accepting a difficult situation rather than reaching a point where they have to carry their children’s funeral bier. Hira’s subsequent remarks added to the criticism directed at the veteran actress.

The controversy followed the circulation of a video in which Saba Faisal discussed how perceptions of divorce have changed over the years.

Saba recalled that divorce was once regarded as a deeply distressing event for an entire family. She said families would question what had gone wrong, while a father could feel embarrassed or ashamed when his daughter’s marriage ended.

The actress also referred to a divorced woman who, according to her example, discussed her separation after three months and travelled abroad before returning after taking time to clear her mind.

Saba expressed concern about what she described as changing attitudes toward marriage and divorce, prompting a wider discussion on social media.

The debate has divided opinions, with users discussing whether changing perceptions of divorce represent greater social acceptance or reflect a reduced emphasis on the traditional importance of marriage.
