Rajkummar Rao, Pratibha Ranta Reportedly Join Vishkanya

MUMBAI: (Showbiz Desk) – Bollywood actors Rajkummar Rao and Pratibha Ranta are reportedly set to share the screen in Vishkanya, an ambitious fantasy project being developed by Dharma Productions.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the project will feature the Stree star alongside Laapataa Ladies actress Pratibha Ranta. While details of the plot are being kept under wraps, the film is expected to create an original fictional universe blending fantasy, horror and elements of existential terror.

Reports suggest that Vishkanya will move beyond conventional horror formulas and introduce a mythical world with its own rules, supernatural forces and mythology. The concept is reportedly designed to offer a setting rarely explored in Hindi cinema.

The film will be directed by Sonal Joshi, who made her directorial debut with Shilpa Shetty’s Sukhee in 2023.

Dharma Productions appears to be expanding its slate across fantasy and horror, with several projects in development. Its upcoming theatrical lineup reportedly includes the Malayalam folk fantasy thriller Odiyan: The Age of Illusion, the fantasy comedy Naagzilla and two horror films, including one featuring Aditya Roy Kapur.

With Vishkanya joining the lineup, the production house appears to be exploring a broader range of supernatural and fantasy storytelling.

Rajkummar Rao, 42, already has experience in the horror-comedy space through the successful Stree franchise, produced by Maddock Films.

Pratibha Ranta, 25, made her Bollywood debut with Kiran Rao’s acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies, marking another major step in her emerging career.

If confirmed, Vishkanya will bring together two performers from different stages of their careers in a fantasy-horror setting that promises a distinctive fictional world.
