PMA urges Punjab to resolve doctors’ transfer delays immediately
Over 850 Punjab doctors await transfer decisions
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has urged the Punjab government to immediately resolve delays in processing the transfer requests of more than 850 doctors serving under the Health and Population Department.
In a statement issued on Monday, the association said the doctors had applied for transfers to the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department under the government’s transfer policy after completing the mandatory three-year service period.
PMA President Prof Dr Shahid Malik said all eligible applications had remained pending for an extended period and alleged that no transfer request had yet been decided by Health and Population Secretary Nadia Saqib.

He said the prolonged delay had created professional uncertainty, administrative difficulties and mental stress for the affected doctors.
Prof Malik warned that if the issue was not addressed promptly, the affected doctors might be compelled to approach the Lahore High Court to seek legal relief.
He also appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take immediate notice of the matter and direct the Health and Population Secretary to decide all pending transfer applications on merit and within a fixed timeframe.
