Punjab Allows Intern Teachers to Check Exam Papers, Perform Invigilation Duties
The initiative will come into effect from the upcoming examination cycle.
LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The Punjab government has decided to allow intern teachers to perform paper checking and invigilation duties during examinations, expanding their role in the province’s education system.
According to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, all intern teachers currently serving in schools and colleges will be eligible to participate in paper checking and examination supervision from the next examination session.
The minister directed the authorities to revise the list of paper checkers and include temporary teaching staff in the examination process. University graduates, School Teacher Interns (STIs), and other qualified individuals will receive the necessary training before being assigned these responsibilities.
Previously, the Punjab government had barred private teachers from undertaking examination-related duties. The new policy aims to strengthen the examination system by utilizing trained intern teachers and qualified temporary staff.
