Punjab Extends Ban on Outdoor Drone Flying for Another 30 Days

Event organizers will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of drones

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The Punjab Home Department has extended the ban on outdoor drone flying across the province for another 30 days under Section 144, citing prevailing security concerns and the need to ensure public safety.

According to a spokesperson for the Home Department, the restriction applies to all open-air drone operations throughout Punjab. The decision was taken to maintain law and order and safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

However, the use of small drones has been allowed inside enclosed venues such as halls and marquees during indoor events. Event organizers will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of drones within such premises.

The Home Department clarified that intelligence and law enforcement agencies are exempt from the ban. The notification, issued under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, directs all district administrations and police authorities to strictly enforce the restrictions.

Officials said the Punjab government’s foremost priority remains maintaining public safety and security across the province.
