NEPRA to hear plea for 89-paisa electricity hike

Fresh power tariff adjustment likely from July 1

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hold a hearing on Monday on a petition seeking an increase of 89 paisa per unit in electricity tariffs.

The petition has been filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), which has requested an upward adjustment in electricity prices.

If approved by the regulator, the revised tariff will take effect from July 1, 2026.

Earlier, in April 2026, NEPRA approved an increase of Rs1.19 per unit under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism. That increase was reflected in consumers’ electricity bills issued in June 2026.
