Pakistan summons Afghan envoy over Karachi terrorist attack
FO issues demarche over Karachi Rangers camp attack

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan on Monday summoned Afghanistan’s chargé d’affaires to the Foreign Office in Islamabad and issued a strong demarche over the recent terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the Afghan diplomat was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday night, where Pakistan formally conveyed its concerns. He added that Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, also delivered a similar demarche to the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Foreign Office, the demarches were issued after Afghan nationals, including one suspect arrested alive during the Karachi attack, were found to have participated in the assault. Pakistan said the incident once again demonstrated that Afghan soil and Afghan nationals were being used to plan and carry out terrorist attacks inside the country.

Meanwhile, the injured suspect arrested during the operation identified himself as Usman Ali and claimed he belonged to the banned Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group. In a recorded statement, he said he had travelled from Afghanistan’s Jalalabad area and was accompanied by three other attackers identified as Abdul Hadi, Janan and Umar Farooq.
