Imran Khan Shifa Hospital: PTI Urges Workers Not to Gather Outside Hospital

Supreme Court Directs Medical Board, Transfer to Imran Khan Shifa Hospital Within Days

Islamabad – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Imran Khan Shifa Hospital transfer has been ordered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, marking a major turn in the ongoing legal battle over the PTI founder’s health and treatment.

The apex court instructed jail authorities to move Khan from Adiala Jail to the private hospital in Islamabad, where he will stay until September 16 for medical checks.

A three-judge bench, led by Justice Shahid Waheed and joined by Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, passed this interim ruling. The judges were hearing petitions about Khan’s medical needs and his right to meet family members.

Why the Order Was Issued

The bench heard arguments about delays in proper treatment for the former prime minister. Lawyers raised concerns that Khan had been kept away from doctors he trusts.

To address this, the court ordered a special medical board to be formed. This board will check Khan’s health and plan his treatment path.

The judges also said Dr Uzma, along with Khan’s personal physician, must be present during every stage of his checkup and care. His family will cover all related costs.

Security and Timeline

Authorities have been told to shift Khan under heavy security cover. The whole process, from transfer to hospital admission, must be wrapped up within a few days.

The court gave a clear warning too. If any of its directions are ignored, the special facilities currently given to Khan could be taken away.

Khan, who turned 73 this year, has been behind bars since August 2023. He and his party call the cases against him politically driven.

His troubles began after he lost power in April 2022 through a no-confidence vote. Since then, he has faced several court cases, including ones linked to state gifts and a marriage dispute.

PTI’s Reaction to the Court Order

The PTI welcomed the court’s decision through a post on social media platform X. The party asked its workers to stay away from the hospital and not gather outside.

Party leaders said this appeal was made purely for Khan’s health and safety. They stressed that respecting the court’s word matters more than public show of support.

PTI called the ruling a solid step toward protecting Khan’s basic right to health. The party also hoped the authorities would follow through and give him proper medical care.

Barrister Gohar Speaks to Media

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan spoke to reporters outside Parliament House soon after the order came out. He made it clear that his party would never use Khan’s health as a political tool.

Gohar said medical reports would stay private and would not be used for other purposes. He added that PTI does not support targeting anyone through unfair means.

He also brought up former first lady Bushra Bibi, saying she too deserves hospital care and medical attention. Her health issue, he said, needs quick resolution as well.

According to Gohar, following the court’s order can help cool down the current political tension in the country. He urged the government to sit down and talk things through instead of taking hasty steps.

“Steps should be taken to settle political disagreements through dialogue,” he told reporters, adding that statements that raise tension should be avoided.

Gohar further said that keeping the army, police, and Rangers safe is a top priority for every citizen. PTI, he noted, does not wish to put security forces at any risk.

He also stated firmly that there should be no give-and-take on the matter of terrorism, calling it wrong no matter where it happens.

PTI Leader Raja’s Statement

PTI Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja spoke to media outside the Supreme Court building. He claimed Khan had been denied access to his own doctors for some time.

Raja said the full medical checkup will now take place at Shifa International Hospital as per the court’s ruling. He confirmed that Khan must be shifted within two days, with a panel of expert doctors formed for his care.

He also mentioned that the court had asked PTI to make sure no crowds form near the hospital. Raja assured that the party would meet this condition fully.

On the topic of Khan’s health report, Raja said it would remain within the family circle only. He repeated that there would be no political use of the medical findings, since Khan’s wellbeing comes first for the party.

With the court’s order now in place, all eyes are on how fast authorities act. The formation of the medical board and Khan’s move to Shifa Hospital are expected within the coming days.

This case continues to draw attention from across Pakistan, as it touches both legal and political circles. How the government and PTI handle the coming days may shape the country’s political mood going forward.
