Eugen Tomac Prime Minister Romania Designated Today

Romania President Names Eugen Tomac Prime Minister Romania

Romania – (Web Desk) – Eugen Tomac prime minister Romania — that is the big news coming out of Bucharest today. President Nicusor Dan has officially named MEP Eugen Tomac as the country’s new prime minister, ending weeks of political uncertainty.

Dan made the announcement on Thursday, saying the political parties had failed to reach an agreement among themselves. He said Romania needs a leader who is independent of the parties and can steer the country in the right direction.

“The only possible solution is a prime minister who is independent,” Dan said. He added that Romania must stay on a pro-Western path and keep its finances stable.

Tomac, 44, is a historian, journalist, and current Member of the European Parliament. He is also the president of the People’s Movement Party. Dan had earlier appointed him as an honorary adviser at Cotroceni Palace in 2025.

After being named, Tomac said he plans to form a technical government, not a political one. He now has 10 days to build his cabinet and prepare for a confidence vote in parliament.

Romania has been dealing with a serious budget deficit and economic pressure from the European Union. The new government will need to act fast to address these challenges.
