Bilawal Seeks PPP Majority Mandate in Gilgit-Baltistan Polls
Bilawal Urges PPP Majority Mandate in Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit Baltistan – (Web Desk) – PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has called for a PPP majority mandate in Gilgit-Baltistan to raise the region’s voice in Islamabad. He made this appeal while speaking at a public rally in Ghizer on Thursday.
Bilawal said that a strong mandate from Gilgit is needed before any new province is created. He stressed that the people of GB must be heard first.
The PPP chief said that a loyal PPP chief minister is needed in GB. Only then can the local residents get proper land ownership rights.
He added that without a majority, PPP will not be able to pass the ownership law. Other parties like PML-N, he warned, will block such legislation.
Bilawal also said that cultivable land must be made available to the people. He called for making such land legally accessible to local residents.
GB is going to the polls on June 7 to elect its 4th Legislative Assembly. Over 963,000 voters are registered, a 29% rise since 2020.
The gender gap between male and female voters has also reduced from 8% to 4%. However, no new delimitation has been done since 1994, despite a clear rise in population.
