PPP Government Budget Deadlock Resolved Ahead of Key Fiscal Announcement

PPP  Budget – (Web Desk) – The PPP government budget deadlock has been resolved after successful talks between the ruling coalition and the Pakistan Peoples Party, clearing the path for the federal budget to be presented on June 10.

A government team led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar sat down with a PPP delegation in Islamabad. Both sides reached an agreement on key proposals, which have now been sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for final approval.

The meeting covered economic targets and major fiscal matters for the 2026-27 budget year. Both sides also reviewed spending priorities, including allocations under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Talks also touched on broader issues such as fiscal stability, public welfare and development projects. Strategies for inclusive and sustainable economic growth were part of the discussion too.

All participants unanimously agreed to recommend June 10 as the date for the budget presentation, ending weeks of uncertainty over the timetable.

Senior PPP figures attended the meeting, including Murad Ali Shah, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman and Saleem Mandviwalla. Also present were Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani and PM’s Special Assistant Tariq Bajwa.

Top economic officials also joined the talks, including Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal and FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial.

These consultations are part of the government’s broader effort to align with coalition partners before finalising the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
