LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a cash reward of Rs10,000 each for sanitation workers who participated in the province-wide Eid-ul-Adha cleanliness operation.

The announcement came after the successful completion of a three-day sanitation campaign carried out under the Suthra Punjab initiative.

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Zeeshan Rafique said the financial incentive aims to recognize the dedication and hard work of sanitation staff while also providing support to their families.

The minister added that the chief minister has directed relevant authorities to register all sanitation workers under the CM Rashan Card Programme. According to officials, a number of workers have already received their ration cards.

Data released by the Punjab Sanitation Authority (SPA) showed that more than 184,000 sanitation workers remained on duty for 72 consecutive hours during Eid-ul-Adha to ensure the prompt disposal of sacrificial waste across the province.

The large-scale operation also involved over 40,000 machinery units, including loader rickshaws, pickup vehicles, and other sanitation equipment deployed throughout urban and rural areas.

Officials said an additional 7,000 machinery units were mobilized to clear temporary waste collection points established during the Eid holidays.

Special cleaning and washing operations were conducted at more than 6,500 mosques and Eidgahs, while nearly 12 million environmentally friendly waste bags were distributed free of charge to citizens before Eid.

The Punjab government described the campaign as one of the largest cleanliness drives in the province’s history, aimed at maintaining public hygiene and ensuring a cleaner environment during the Eid celebrations.
