Pakistan Successfully Foils Indian Cyber Attacks Targeting Federal Ministries
ISLAMABAD: India has launched cyber attacks targeting various Pakistani federal ministries and divisions, according to revelations by the country’s top IT official.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, confirmed the attempted cyber intrusions during a briefing with IT and telecom beat reporters. She stated that different ministries were targeted, but Pakistan successfully thwarted these hostile efforts.
Shaza Fatima asserted that the cyber attacks caused no major damage and did not impact the country’s telecom infrastructure. She explained that the websites of federal ministries are hosted on the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) system, which maintains a robust cybersecurity mechanism. “There was no significant disruption, and our systems remained intact,” she added.
The minister emphasized that Pakistan has established Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) at both the national and provincial levels. These teams have been issuing regular advisories and increasing public awareness regarding cyber threats. Shaza Fatima also pointed out that the National Telecommunications and Information Security Board (NTISB) is actively monitoring such activities.

Highlighting Pakistan’s growing status in digital defense, she said that over the past two years, the country has made its place among top-tier nations in terms of cybersecurity. “Pakistan now appears alongside countries like the United States and the United Kingdom in the global cybersecurity rankings,” she noted, presenting it as evidence of Pakistan’s rapid advancements in this domain.
In a comment on the ongoing digital tension between India and Pakistan, the minister praised the response of Pakistani youth on social media. She said that young people are countering hostile narratives with creativity, humor, and resilience. “They are using memes to express themselves even in such tense situations. We are not a nation that fears intimidation,” she concluded.
