Islamabad to Build Two New Underpasses, Rescue Reforms

Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed authorities to accelerate key infrastructure and emergency response projects in the capital, announcing that construction of two major underpasses will begin next month.

Chairing a meeting at the CDA Headquarters, the interior minister said underpasses at Kashmir Chowk and Faisal Mosque will be built to ease traffic congestion and improve the flow of vehicles across Islamabad.

Naqvi also expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of a fully operational Rescue 1122 emergency response system in the federal capital. He instructed officials to take immediate steps to establish the Capital Emergency Services as a fully functional institution and directed that construction of four new emergency service centers should begin as soon as all legal requirements are completed.

The meeting also reviewed proposals aimed at strengthening the Capital Development Authority’s financial resources. Naqvi instructed officials to formulate a long-term revenue model that would help the CDA achieve financial sustainability, stressing that institutional financial stability is essential for sustained development.

He further directed that the Islamabad Expressway Service Road Project be completed within the approved timeline without delays.

Officials also briefed the meeting on the progress of several ongoing mega development projects and presented plans for upcoming initiatives      intended to improve infrastructure and public services in the capital.
