Mohsin Naqvi Seeks Independent Review of Federal Ministers

ISLAMABAD: (Special Reporter) – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said he will recommend to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the performance of every federal minister and ministry be independently reviewed to ensure greater transparency and accountability.

Speaking during an interview with a private television channel, Naqvi proposed that a third-party assessment should evaluate the performance of all federal ministries, with the findings made public. He said such a review would provide a clear picture of the work being carried out by each ministry.

Responding to criticism about his own role, Naqvi said his attendance at federal cabinet meetings stands at nearly 70 percent. He also remarked that he appreciated those who claimed he had covered “a 30-year journey in three years,” describing it as recognition of his efforts.

The interior minister reiterated his earlier comments about governance, saying the country’s administrative system has deteriorated over decades. He clarified that his remarks were not intended as criticism of the current government, noting that he is himself a member of the cabinet.

Naqvi also dismissed speculation about differences with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying some people wanted to create misunderstandings between them. He expressed confidence that the present government would complete its full five-year constitutional term, adding that Shehbaz Sharif would remain prime minister throughout that period.

Highlighting the government’s achievements, Naqvi said the prime minister works 14 to 16 hours daily and pointed to improvements including higher FBR revenue, diplomatic gains and other developments. He maintained that stronger institutional systems would allow the government to deliver even better results.
