US Imposes New Iran Sanctions Across Five Key Sectors

Washington Targets Iran-Linked Entities, Vessels Under New Sanctions

WASHINGTON: (News Desk) – The United States has announced a fresh round of sanctions targeting Iran, with measures covering five key sectors including digital assets, technology, gold, aviation and shipping.

According to a foreign news agency, the US Treasury Department has sanctioned 60 entities, individuals and vessels linked to Iran. The targets include brokerage firms and other businesses operating in the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Europe.

US authorities have also suspended certain licences associated with money transfers to Iran. Officials said the latest measures are aimed at disrupting Tehran’s financial and economic networks and limiting channels used to circumvent existing sanctions.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said President Donald Trump was engaging with world leaders to push them to end economic relations with Iran. He added that countries had been given a deadline to halt trade with Tehran.

Bessent warned that the US Treasury would use its authority to take unilateral action against countries that fail to reduce economic ties with Iran within the specified timeframe.

The Treasury secretary also said countries had been instructed to close branches of Iranian banks. He stressed that no country, including China, would be exempt from the reach of US sanctions.

The latest measures add to Washington’s previous sanctions targeting Iran’s oil exports, shipping networks and companies accused of helping Tehran bypass international restrictions.
