Pakistan offers to host next US-Iran talks
Pakistan proposes Islamabad venue for next round of US-Iran talks
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Pakistan has put forward a proposal to host a second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad within the coming days, according to two Pakistani officials. They noted that the plan remains flexible and could change if either side prefers a different location for the talks. One official emphasized that even though the initial round did not produce a formal agreement, it was still part of a broader, ongoing diplomatic effort rather than a standalone meeting.
US Vice President JD Vance shared that the earlier discussions resulted in “some progress,” particularly regarding Washington’s demand for the removal of nuclear material from Iran and safeguards to prevent future uranium enrichment. Speaking in an interview, he suggested Iranian negotiators appeared willing to move closer to US expectations but lacked final authority to seal an agreement without approval from leadership in Tehran. Vance added that Donald Trump would welcome Iran being reintegrated into the global economy under normal conditions, though he did not elaborate further.
Meanwhile, officials from both sides are considering another face-to-face meeting in hopes of reaching a deal before the current ceasefire expires next week. Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that while Islamabad is a strong candidate to host again, other locations such as Geneva are also under consideration. Although the exact timing and level of participation remain undecided, there is growing momentum for talks to take place soon, possibly within days.
