Second Mango Festival Showcases Pakistani Varieties And Promotes Global Export Growth
ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – The second Mango Festival has officially opened at DHA Phase 4, Islamabad, bringing farmers, exporters, researchers and mango enthusiasts together to celebrate Pakistan’s world-famous mango industry and explore opportunities to expand exports.
The three-day festival, running from July 17 to 19, was inaugurated by Sardar Rafiq Khan Mazari, who attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest.
Organizers said they have successfully arranged 10 Mango Festivals so far, with annual events previously held in Multan and at Centaurus Mall, Islamabad. The latest edition continues efforts to promote Pakistani mangoes as a premium agricultural product in local and international markets.
More than 20 varieties of Pakistani mangoes are being displayed at the festival, highlighting the country’s diverse production, quality and distinctive flavors.
The event aims to provide a platform for farmers and exporters to connect, strengthen partnerships and develop strategies to increase mango exports while enhancing Pakistan’s position in the global market.
The opening ceremony was attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly Haider Laghari, former Sindh Inspector General Khursheed Shah, Sardar Ali Jan Mazari, Dr. Rashid Ahmed, Executive Director of CropLife Association, representatives of the Punjab Food Authority, media professionals and members of various organizations.
The festival received a strong public response, with families, mango lovers and researchers visiting the venue to explore different varieties and learn more about Pakistan’s mango production.
Besides showcasing mangoes, the event is also serving as a networking opportunity for growers, exporters, researchers and industry stakeholders to exchange ideas and discuss ways to improve agricultural exports.
Participants stressed the need for stronger cooperation between farmers, exporters, academic institutions and government departments to improve quality standards, increase international competitiveness and promote Pakistani mangoes worldwide.
The festival has been organized with the support of representatives from Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University Multan, including M. Usman, M. Tariq and Riaz Ahmed Hiraj, along with students and other staff members.
