Pakistan iPhone Users May Wait Longer For 5G

Apple Delays 5G Support For iPhone Users In Pakistan Until 2027

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Users of Apple iPhones in Pakistan are unlikely to receive 5G support before 2027 after the company reportedly decided not to activate the feature for its devices in the country at this stage.

According to media reports, officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication said Apple informed authorities that it plans to reassess the commercial potential and market size of Pakistan in 2027 before enabling official 5G compatibility for iPhone users.

Technology experts believe high import duties and taxes on smartphones, especially iPhones, have sharply reduced Apple’s market presence in Pakistan. Analysts say this limited market share is one of the major factors behind the company’s decision to delay full 5G support in the country.

Meanwhile, smartphones produced by Samsung Electronics are already capable of accessing 5G services in Pakistan.

5G Trials Gilgit-Baltistan: The Wait Is Finally Over

Pakistan accelerated preparations for nationwide 5G connectivity earlier this year after successfully completing a spectrum auction worth $507 million in March. The auction involved the sale of 480 megahertz of spectrum aimed at improving internet speed, digital connectivity, and mobile network performance.

Telecom officials said mobile operators have already ordered the necessary infrastructure and equipment required for launching 5G services, while trial operations are currently underway in selected locations across the country.

Despite the ongoing rollout of next-generation mobile technology, iPhone users in Pakistan may still face a long wait before being able to fully access 5G services on their devices.
