Pakistan Bowled Out for 171 Against England
England Bowlers Rout Pakistan for 171 at Headingley
LEEDS: (Sports Reporter) – Pakistan suffered a major batting collapse in the opening innings of the first Test against England, being bowled out for just 171 runs in 48.1 overs at Headingley.
England captain Joe Root won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that quickly paid dividends as Pakistan’s top order struggled against the home side’s bowling attack.
Pakistan’s innings began disastrously when Aazan Owais was dismissed lbw by Ollie Robinson from the very first delivery. Robinson struck again shortly afterwards, trapping Shan Masood lbw with Pakistan’s total at just six runs.
Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique then attempted to rebuild the innings and provided Pakistan with some resistance. Imam scored 42, while Abdullah Shafique top-scored with 61 runs.
However, once the pair departed, Pakistan’s lower and middle order failed to offer sustained resistance. Captain Salman Ali Agha scored 21, while Khurram Shahzad made 14 and Mohammad Rizwan contributed 12.

England’s bowling attack remained in control throughout the innings, with Ollie Robinson and Josh Tong claiming five wickets each to dismiss Pakistan for a modest total.
With regular Test captain Babar Azam sidelined by injury, Salman Ali Agha is leading Pakistan in the opening match of the three-Test series.
Pakistan’s lineup features Imam-ul-Haq, Aazan Owais, Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Ali Usman, Khurram Shahzad and Mohammad Abbas, alongside captain Salman Ali Agha.
England’s XI includes Joe Root, Emily Guy, Ben Duckett, Jordan Cox, Harry Brook, Dan Larsen, Jamie Smith, Gus Atkinson, Jofra Archer, Ollie Robinson and Josh Tong.
England will now look to build a substantial first-innings advantage, while Pakistan’s bowlers face the task of keeping the hosts’ scoring under control.
