NHMP Issues Monsoon Travel Advisory, Urges Motorists to Exercise Caution

Islamabad: (Staff Reporter) – The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a nationwide travel advisory in light of the ongoing monsoon rains, urging commuters to exercise extreme caution and strictly follow traffic regulations while travelling on national highways and motorways.

According to the advisory, heavy rainfall may lead to slippery roads, poor visibility, and an increased risk of traffic accidents. The NHMP has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall. Those who must travel are urged to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and use headlights whenever necessary to improve visibility.

The advisory also warns travellers heading towards hilly regions to remain vigilant due to the possibility of landslides and falling rocks caused by continuous rain. Motorists have been strongly advised not to attempt crossing flooded roads, seasonal streams, or nullahs under any circumstances, as floodwaters can pose a serious threat to life.

Citizens planning to visit northern areas have been encouraged to check the latest weather forecasts and road conditions before starting their journey to avoid unexpected disruptions.
