Pakistan and Qatar Agree to Strengthen Internal Security Cooperation Ties

Interior ministers of both countries discuss shared goals, regional peace and the need for patient diplomacy.

Pakistan and Qatar – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to work closer together on internal security cooperation, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Tuesday. The two countries want to build a stronger partnership between their interior ministries.

The ministers held detailed talks on how both sides can expand their work in areas linked to internal security. The ministry did not share specific plans, but it said both sides were serious about moving forward.

Both ministers said they remain committed to deeper ties between their ministries. They also agreed to improve their partnership in this field.

Interior Minister Naqvi said Pakistan and Qatar are working side by side for peace and stability in the region. He said Islamabad is ready to work with Doha on matters of shared interest. He named internal security and regional stability as key areas.

The Qatari interior minister said his country gives great importance to its relations with Pakistan.

The meeting came a day after Naqvi spoke at the 8th Global Security Forum in Doha. There, he said the two countries had worked together to support peace in the region.

Naqvi also said Pakistan had made every possible effort to bring Washington and Tehran to the negotiating table. He said tensions rose sharply at times, but Islamabad never gave up.

His comments come at a tense time for the region. Yemen’s internationally recognised government forces are still fighting Houthi rebels. The Houthis are also targeting Saudi Arabia.

There is more pressure on the diplomatic front too. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that Tehran’s offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days is still available. He added that progress depends on how Washington responds to Iran’s conditions.

Against this background, Naqvi praised Qatar for its efforts to mediate between the United States and Iran. He said Islamabad and Doha worked together to stop the situation from getting worse.

He also reminded the audience that peace takes time. “Peace cannot be achieved in a single meeting,” he said. He added that it needs patience, trust and steady effort.

His message was clear. Lasting solutions come from keeping talks alive, even when the road looks hard.

For Pakistan and Qatar, this new understanding shows that both countries see security and diplomacy as linked. Strong ties between interior ministries can help each side deal with shared challenges more easily.

Observers will now watch to see how the two sides turn their promises into real steps. For now, the message from both capitals is simple: they plan to stay close and keep working for a calmer region.
