Multan Orphan Boy Murder Suspect Killed in Bahawalpur Encounter

CCTV Footage Captured Pursuit Before Multan Orphan Boy's Death

BAHAWALPUR: (Crime Reporter) – Tauqeer Nazir, the main suspect in the killing of a 15-year-old orphan boy in Multan, has been killed in an alleged police encounter near Bahawalpur, according to a CCD official.

Irfan Akbar, a district officer with the Crime Control Department (CCD), said police had arrested Tauqeer after the incident and produced him before a court. A judicial magistrate subsequently remanded him to police custody for four days, but he reportedly escaped while in custody.

According to the official, police later attempted to stop two men travelling on a motorcycle along Bahawalpur’s Northern Bypass. The suspects allegedly tried to flee and opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire. During the incident, Tauqeer was reportedly shot dead by his own accomplice, who escaped from the scene.

The suspect had also reportedly been assaulted by lawyers when he appeared in court following his arrest.

What Happened to Waseem Abbas?

The case concerns the death of 15-year-old Waseem Abbas, an orphan who was living at an NGO-run orphanage. According to Multan City Police Officer Akhtar Farooq, the boy had been sent to Tauqeer to learn electrical work about a week before the incident.

Tauqeer reportedly took electrical work contracts for various buildings, and children from the same orphanage had previously received vocational training under him.

Police said Waseem wanted to leave the job because of the treatment he allegedly faced. After he left, he was pursued, and a car was driven over him, killing him at the scene.

CCTV footage from a private housing society in Multan reportedly captured the incident from multiple angles. The footage showed the boy running while being pursued before a speeding car struck him. Investigators said the recordings helped establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

Following the incident, police registered a murder case and arrested Tauqeer Nazir as the main suspect.

The latest reported encounter marks a further development in the case, while the suspect’s alleged role in Waseem’s death and the circumstances of his death in police action remain matters to be assessed against official investigation records.
