NHMP Foils Drug Smuggling Bid on M-2, Recovers 243kg Narcotics
243kg Drugs Recovered After Smuggling Bid Foiled Near Kallar Kahar
ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs on the M-2 Motorway near Kallar Kahar, recovering 243 kilograms of narcotics.
According to the NHMP, officers conducting routine patrols signalled two suspicious vehicles to stop near Kallar Kahar. However, the suspects abandoned the vehicles and fled the scene.
A search of both vehicles led to the recovery of 155 kilograms of opium and 88 kilograms of hashish.
Preliminary information suggests that the drugs were being transported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab.
The NHMP handed over the recovered narcotics along with both vehicles to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further legal proceedings. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the suspects.
The motorway police said its officers remain engaged round the clock to ensure enforcement of the law on highways, protect road users, prevent criminal activities and curb drug smuggling.
