DG ISPR Accuses India of Sponsoring Terrorism in Pakistan, Calls Taliban Regime a Proxy

Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry Warns Afghan Taliban Over Terrorist Safe Havens

ISLAMABAD: (Special Reporter) – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan, alleging that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) are operating as Indian proxies.

In an interview with Reuters, the military spokesperson also described the Afghan Taliban regime as an Indian proxy, saying Afghanistan continued to be governed by non-state actors and that the Taliban administration lacked international credibility.

He urged the international community to press the Afghan Taliban authorities to act as a responsible state and stop providing support or sanctuary to militant groups operating against Pakistan. He warned that failure to address Islamabad’s security concerns could have serious consequences.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry alleged that the Taliban regime was using non-state actors to advance its objectives, while various intelligence agencies, proxy groups and international militant organisations had established a presence in Afghanistan. He said the presence of such groups had previously been highlighted by the United Nations, the United States and other countries.

The DG ISPR further alleged that the Afghan Taliban authorities were providing shelter to militant commanders, including Noor Wali Mehsud, Bashir Zeb and Gul Bahadur. He said groups carrying out attacks in Pakistan originated from Afghan territory and were also receiving weapons from within Afghanistan.

He maintained that Pakistan’s armed forces had the capability to counter threats emerging from Afghanistan, including those involving drones.
