Hassan Ali Urges Strong PSL Performance to Reignite Cricket Fans’ Passion
Hassan Ali Confident in New Faces Despite Pakistan's Struggles
KARACHI: Karachi Kings’ right-arm fast bowler, Hassan Ali, stressed on Monday that the performance of the national cricket team directly influences the popularity of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), urging players to lift the spirits of disappointed fans through strong performances in the upcoming tournament.
Speaking to reporters before the Kings’ first practice session ahead of the 10th edition of the PSL, Hassan acknowledged that while Pakistan’s recent results have been below expectations, the team’s new players need time to adapt.
“When the national team doesn’t perform well, it impacts franchise leagues like the PSL,” Hassan said. “But when Pakistan performs well, the PSL’s popularity also rises.”
Despite Pakistan’s struggles, including a poor showing at the ICC Champions Trophy on home soil and a disappointing tour of New Zealand, Hassan expressed confidence in the new faces in the team. “The current results aren’t great, but we have fresh faces in the team and management, and they need time. The players know where they went wrong and where to improve.”
The seasoned pacer emphasized the importance of senior players stepping up in the PSL to restore fans’ enthusiasm. “Our people love cricket, and the fans are very emotional. We will try our best to make them happy with our performances,” he said.
With the PSL set to clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, Hassan remained optimistic. “Fans watch the tournament where there’s good cricket and entertainment. If we perform well in the PSL, viewers will choose us over the IPL.”
Hassan also highlighted the PSL’s role in nurturing young talent, calling it a vital platform for emerging players to share dressing rooms with cricket stars. “Performing in the PSL grabs the attention of selectors and management — there’s no doubt about that,” he added.

Having made a strong comeback in domestic cricket, Hassan vowed to maintain his form. “I recently performed well in the National T20 Cup and will try to keep that momentum going. This PSL is important for me as I aim to make a comeback to the national team. As Karachi Kings, we will do our best to bring Karachi cricket fans back to the stadium.”
The 10th edition of the PSL begins on March 11, with Karachi Kings playing their first match on March 12 against Multan Sultans.
