BLA’S EXPLOITATION OF WOMEN INTO TERRORISM
Islamic Values and Women's Respect: A Fundamental Contrast to BLA's Actions
Balochistan-BLA’S Exploitation of women into terrorism. Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is a self-styled and self-propagated outfit that claims to be fighting for the rights for the Baloch people and for the independence of Balochistan which they believed had been forcibly made part of Pakistan in 1947. However, in reality, it is just a proxy that is rearing the exploitative agenda of vested interests which are inimical to Balochistan in particular and Pakistan in general. The BLA only recently has gone to the extent of abysmally low by using the women through exploitative tactics including pornographic content to coerce them to carry out terrorist activities in Balochistan and elsewhere against security forces.
The exploitation of the Baloch women through oppressive and offensive tactics such as blackmailing through the obscene content is a clear manifestation of the gravity of mind and distraction from all the norms and ethics particularly this deranged and degraded bend of mind is totally in violation of the Islamic values, principles, teachings, traditions, ethics and norms.
Islam prohibits rearing women even in the war rather it makes incumbent upon the Muslims to respect the women even of the enemy. When Hatam Tai’s daughter came to Madina as a prisoner. Her headgear slipped and her head got exposed. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) ordered Hazrat Umer (RA) to cover her head. Hazrat Umer said she was daughter of the enemy why she should be so much cared for but the Prophet (SAW) gave a universal principle that she was a daughter and daughters even of the enemy should be respected and honoured.
Another aspect is more degenerative and degradative which is taken as worst of the meanest of the human actions i.e. making porn content of the women. In the orthodox social setup that exists in Balochistan where women live in the dominant presence of the males as even, they are not allowed to leave the four walls of their house without permission. They move in the most restricted and confined environment for education and other pursuits of routine life. In such a restricted environment, using women for fulfilling the nefarious designs is next to impossible and BLA finds it doable and workable tactics to exploit Baloch women through exploitation and blackmailing by making obscene content.
The first instance of Baloch woman suicide bomber came to surface in April 2022 when Sharri Baloch, a mother of two, blew herself off ripping through the bus carrying Chinese nationals on the premises of the Confucious Institute at Karachi University killing three Chinese and the bus driver. Soon after the attack, BLA’s Majid Brigade claimed responsibility of the attack lauding the sacrifice and gallantry of Sharri Baloch. The whole episode is replete with many if and buts and BLA claim appeared to be doubtful as the track record of Sharri Baloch did not augment the claim.

Sharri Baloch hailed from Kech district and had her masters done from University of Quetta in Education and Zoology and masters in Philosophy from Allama Iqbal University, Islamabad. She started her career as a primary school teacher and then she became secondary school teacher. Her father was a director of a government agency. Her husband was a dentist while her brother-in-law was a teacher. She moved to Karachi along with her husband and wanted to do her PhD from Karachi University.
She had never suffered any misfortune or tragedy from any quarter which could lead her to such a heinous act of terrorist activity. Her family had never been involved with any terrorist outfit and in any of such activities.
The question arises what had forced Sharri Baloch to resort to such an extreme step of her life which is, prime facie, satisfied, well-off rather to some extent a luxurious. Which was the force behind her that led her to take her life only for the obnoxious designs of a terror organization? This is a million-dollar question but answer appears to be simple.
The only thing that becomes evident that Sharri Baloch was under compulsion and was being blackmailed by those who had claimed responsibility of the suicide bombing. The BLA’s Majeed Brigade shared a picture of Sharri Baloch with her husband and two children on social media after the attack. It suggests that they had her more pictures which were not be shared openly.
The recent spate of protests and sit-ins that had paralyzed a large swath of Balochistan involving hundreds of Baloch women had come out for their rights. But, again, it was doubtful when it is seen in the backdrop of the restricted social setup of the Baloch people. How come that suddenly young and old women had become bold enough to come on the streets and roads facing the strangers and without any clad. Are the Baloch women in reality or some other women had been generated on the streets in the garb of Baloch women. Their leader who had studied through the scholarship of the government turned violent and aggressive apparently due to some compulsion.
In short, all the standards which have been part of any religion or man-made ethical values, coercion of women in any manifestation and representation is an objectionable act. The unethical and immoral act of obscenity related to women is more condemnable. Islam being a practical religion does not allow anyone to force women into a criminal activity as the hellish act of naked aggression is below the standard of humanity. If success is achieved through these objectionable acts of women exploitation, then what this success may be that rests on wickedness. Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its backers should think positively as peaceful struggle for legitimate rights is the unalienable right of every person but struggle should be within peaceful means and violence is never a solution. The more painful act is the use of women through obscene material and it is highly regrettable and digression of all the values and traditions.
