Seeking Happiness for the Chinese People, Promoting Progress for Humanity, Opening a New Chapter for China-Pakistan Cooperation

This year marks the 105^th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). On the morning of July 1^st, a grand gathering marking the 105^th anniversary of the founding of the CPC was held in Beijing, where General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech which comprehensively reviews and summarizes the glorious course and the great achievements of the CPC over the past 105 years in uniting and leading the Chinese people of all ethnic groups. As noted in General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important July 1^st speech, under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people, through a magnificent and great struggle, overthrew the three mountains of imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucratic capitalism, established a new China in which the people are the masters of the country, brought a definitive end to the history of old China as a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, and realized a historic leap in the people’s living standards—from having inadequate food and clothing to achieving moderate prosperity overall, and then to moderate prosperity in all respects. For more than a century, growing from a tiny boat to a towering mighty vessel, and from a party of merely over 50 members at its founding to the world’s largest ruling party with more than 100 million members, the CPC has continued to grow from strength to strength. It has united and led the Chinese people in accomplishing the great leap from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong. China’s GDP has surged from 67.9 billion yuan in 1952 to 140.2 trillion yuan in 2025, marking a historic leap: from extreme poverty to a per capita income of 13,400 US dollars, with its manufacturing value-added accounting for nearly 30% of the global total and its overall national strength rising to the forefront of the world. Since the 18^th National Congress of the CPC in 2012, General Secretary Xi Jinping has led the entire Party, the military, and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to write a new chapter of the two miracles of rapid economic development and long-term social stability. China has won the largest-scale battle against poverty in human history, lifting nearly 100 million rural people out of poverty. It has established the world’s largest education, social security, and medical and health systems, propelling the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation into an irreversible historical course. This year marks the inaugural year of the 15^th Five-Year Plan. China’s economic and social development has forged ahead amid mounting pressures and maintained steady progress. In the first quarter, China’s GDP registered a 5% year-on-year growth. From January to May, the value added of industrial enterprises above designated size grew by 5.4% year on year, the service sector production index rose by 4.8%, and total merchandise imports and exports expanded by 15.3%. By the end of May, China’s foreign exchange reserves remained stable at over 3.4 trillion US dollars.

Over the past 105 years, the CPC has always pursued progress for humanity and the common good for the world. As pointed out in General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important July 1^st speech, today, under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people are advancing Chinese modernization, creating a new form of human advancement, and expanding the pathways for developing countries to achieve modernization. It has grown into the world’s largest, most extensive and most far-reaching platform for international economic cooperation, driving nearly 1 trillion US dollars in investment, delivering over 3,000 cooperation projects, and creating more than 400,000 jobs in countries along the routes. According to World Bank research, the full implementation of the BRI could lift 7.6 million people out of extreme poverty and 32 million people out of moderate poverty. As a pilot project of BRI cooperation, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has so far brought over 25.9 billion US dollars in direct investment, more than 260,000 jobs, over 8,000 megawatts of power generation capacity, 510 kilometers of expressways, and 886 kilometers of national core power transmission grids. It has injected robust impetus into Pakistan’s economic and social development, set an important benchmark for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and served as a vivid embodiment of the China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

Over the past 105 years, the CPC has consistently upheld the principle of building the Party with theories and strengthening it through theoretical education. In the fiscal year 2026, Pakistan’s GDP grew by 3.7 percent and reached a record high of $452 billion USD, showcasing that its macroeconomy has continued to stabilize and improve. The services sector and large-scale manufacturing sector expanded by 4.09 percent and 6.1 percent respectively, both reaching the highest levels in the past four fiscal years, demonstrating improvements in both the quality and efficiency of economic development. Annual per capita income increased from $1,751 USD to US$1,901 USD, up by 8.5 percent, enabling the fruits of economic growth to benefit the people. Pakistan has also demonstrated a proactive spirit and actively played a constructive role by successfully facilitating the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States, making an important contribution to easing regional tensions and safeguarding regional peace and stability.
