Seven Tourists Die as Boat Capsizes in Kalam Lake

SWAT: (Web Desk) – At least seven tourists lost their lives while seven others sustained injuries after a boat overturned in Saifullah Lake in Kalam, Swat, on Wednesday, rescue officials said.
Rescue teams recovered the victims and shifted the injured along with the bodies to THQ Hospital Kalam. Authorities confirmed that the tourists belonged to Islamabad.
According to rescue officials, members of the same family were aboard the boat when the accident occurred. Six bodies were initially recovered from the lake and transported to the hospital, while a 17-year-old girl remained missing. Rescue teams continued their search operation before later confirming the seventh fatality.
Officials said the deceased included two women, two men and two children among the initial recoveries. Rescue personnel continued combing the lake and surrounding area until the missing teenager was located. Authorities said further details would be shared after formal identification and completion of the rescue operation.

Immediately after receiving information about the incident, Rescue 1122 dispatched emergency teams, ambulances and tourism police to the site. Despite the challenging mountainous terrain, rescue workers reached the lake promptly and launched the operation.
The rescue mission was carried out jointly by Rescue 1122, the district administration, Swat Police, Tourism Police, the Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA) and the local Jeep Association, all of whom assisted in recovering the victims and managing the emergency response.
