Pakistan Once Labeled a Terrorist State, Now Recognized as a Peacemaker: Ishaq Dar
Only a few years ago Pakistan was often described as a diplomatically isolated country, DPM said.
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday said that Pakistan is now being recognized globally as a responsible mediator and peacemaker following the agreement between Iran and the United States to end hostilities and pursue reconciliation.
Addressing the National Assembly, Dar said the international community is appreciating Pakistan’s constructive efforts for peace and regional stability.
He stated that Pakistan played a key role in facilitating direct talks between the United States and Iran, making possible the first such engagement between the two countries in 47 years.
According to a joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar on June 22, the first round of Iran-US negotiations held in Switzerland witnessed encouraging progress. Both sides agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final peace agreement within 60 days.
The deputy prime minister said that only a few years ago Pakistan was often described as a diplomatically isolated country, but the situation has now changed dramatically. He noted that Pakistan is increasingly being acknowledged worldwide for promoting peace, dialogue, and conflict resolution.
Dar added that Pakistan now receives numerous invitations to participate in major international forums and conferences, reflecting the growing recognition of its diplomatic role on the global stage.
