ECP Disqualifies Three Former MNAs Over Missing Asset Statements

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified three former members of the National Assembly for failing to submit mandatory statements detailing their assets and liabilities.

The lawmakers affected by the decision are Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza and Abdul Latif Chitrali.

The ECP said action was taken after the three former MNAs failed to submit the required Form B, which contains details of their assets and liabilities. The decision was issued under an order dated August 7, 2026.

Under the commission’s ruling, the three former lawmakers will remain ineligible to contest elections until they submit the required statements.

Zartaj Gul previously served in the National Assembly from 2018 to January 2023 and was elected again from Dera Ghazi Khan in the 2024 general elections. She later became parliamentary leader of the Sunni Ittehad Council. Her resignation from her earlier National Assembly seat was accepted by then-Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in January 2023.

Gul was also convicted by a Faisalabad court in 2025 in cases related to the May 9, 2023 riots and was subsequently disqualified by the ECP in August 2025 following her conviction.

Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza, a politician and religious scholar, has headed the Sunni Ittehad Council since 2013. He served as an MNA from February 2024 until August 2025, when the ECP disqualified him in connection with alleged involvement in the May 9 unrest. He was later arrested following his conviction and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Abdul Latif Chitrali served as a member of the National Assembly from February 29, 2025, until July 29, 2025. The ECP disqualified him on July 29, 2025, under Article 63 of the Constitution.

The latest ECP action means the three former lawmakers must fulfill the statutory requirement of submitting their asset and liability declarations before they can become eligible to contest elections again.
