ECP Sets December 31 Deadline for Asset Declarations
Election Commission of Pakistan Reminds Parliamentarians to Declare Assets by December 31
ISLAMABAD: (Staff Reporter) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reminded members of Parliament and provincial assemblies to submit their annual statements of assets and liabilities by December 31, 2026.
The statements must cover the assets and liabilities of the lawmakers, their spouses and dependent children as of June 30, 2026, for the financial year 2025-26.
The ECP said submission of the statements on the prescribed Form-B is mandatory under Section 137 of the Elections Act, 2017.
Under the law, the ECP will publish the names of members who fail to submit their declarations by the December 31 deadline in a press release on January 1.
Lawmakers who still fail to file their statements by January 15 will face suspension of their membership from January 16 and will be barred from functioning as members until they submit the required declaration.
The law also provides for proceedings for corrupt practice if a statement is subsequently found to contain materially false information.
The ECP said Form-B, along with relevant instructions and guidelines, is available free of cost from the ECP Secretariat in Islamabad, provincial election commissioner offices, the Senate and National Assembly secretariats, and the secretariats of the provincial assemblies.
